Overview
Founded in New York in 1875 by Joseph Bulova, and among the first watch companies anywhere to apply standardised, interchangeable-parts manufacture at industrial scale. Its Accutron of 1960 was the first electronic wristwatch, using a 360 Hz tuning fork in place of a balance and escapement, and for a decade the most accurate wristwatch made. A privately owned Bulova chronograph was worn on the lunar surface during Apollo 15. Acquired by Citizen in 2008.
