Overview
Founded at Le Locle in 1889 by Georges Ducommun, and for its first eighty years a maker of pocket watches and eight-day car clocks. Its significance begins with the SUB of 1967: a dive watch developed with divers and distributed in the United States through US Divers, whose chairman was Jacques Cousteau. Its orange dial was chosen on underwater legibility testing and every orange dive dial since descends from it, and its bezel carries the US Navy no-decompression table rather than a plain minute scale. The company passed through Synchron SA and, from 1978, Aubry Frères before being revived by the Jenny family from 1997.
