Overview
Founded in 1991 by the watchmaker Franck Muller and the case manufacturer Vartan Sirmakes, at Genthod outside Geneva. Built on complication — perpetual calendars, tourbillons, repeaters — and on the Cintrée Curvex case, a tonneau curved in two planes at once whose doubly curved sapphire crystal is a genuinely expensive component. Its exaggerated Art Deco numerals are original artwork rather than a typeface.
Notable innovations
- · Cintrée Curvex compound-curved case (1991)
- · Crazy Hours (2003), a jumping hour programmed to a non-sequential dial layout
