Overview
Founded in 2004 at La Chaux-de-Fonds by Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey, producing on the order of a hundred watches a year. Its founding work was a series of tourbillon constructions addressing a stated chronometric problem — that a single-axis tourbillon averages positional error only within its own plane — through geometry: inclined carriages, nested carriages, and carriages rotating in twenty-four seconds rather than sixty. Its hand finishing is generally regarded as the most extreme in series watchmaking.
Notable innovations
- · Double Tourbillon 30° (2004), an inclined carriage nested within a slower outer one
- · Tourbillon 24 Secondes, an inclined carriage rotating in twenty-four seconds
