Overview
Founded at Le Locle in 1882 by Ariste Calame, and significant for the Sea Wolf of 1953 — among the first purpose-built dive watches offered to the general public rather than to navies or professionals. The 1969 Astrographic displays the time on transparent rotating discs with no hands at all. Independence ended during the quartz crisis and the brand has belonged to the Fossil Group since 1998; current production uses STP movements, Fossil's own Swiss movement operation, which did not exist before the 2010s and therefore dates any watch containing one.
