Dial signature: Heuer or TAG Heuer

Probable

The dial signature changed from Heuer to TAG Heuer when Techniques d'Avant Garde acquired the company in 1985, and the modern heritage reissues have revived the plain Heuer signature. The shield logo accompanies both in varying executions.

    Correct for anything made before 1985 and correct again on a modern heritage reissue. The signature therefore dates a DIAL and not a watch, and reasoning straight from it to a production year is the error the boundary invites.
