Nautilus horizontally embossed dial

Probable

The Nautilus dial carries horizontal grooves embossed into the dial plate before lacquering, not printed or brushed onto the surface. Under raking light the relief is real and the grooves have depth and a formed edge; under flat light they read as fine lines and reveal little, which is why photographs of these dials are so often uninformative.

Grooves have depth and a rolled rather than cut edge, running true and parallel across the whole dial including behind the applied markers and around the date aperture. Applied markers and the logo are seated flush with no adhesive halo under 10x, and the lume fill within them is level.

On a Nautilus the dial is a large share of the value, a service dial is a genuine Patek part correctly fitted, and the classification is neither an authenticity finding nor originality-neutral.
