Cheap counterfeit/replica bezels frequently show mis-oriented numerals such as an upside-down '30'. Corroborate with the movement — a bad bezel alone can also be an innocent aftermarket mod.
Reproduction bezel inlays are widespread

The coloured bezel inlay is fragile, frequently damaged, and reproduced in volume. Colour match to the dial, print sharpness of the tachymeter scale and the seating of the inlay in the bezel are the checks. A replacement inlay is a common and usually disclosed repair; it becomes an authentication concern only when combined with other substituted parts, or when a listing presents a re-inlaid watch as untouched.

Brown dials appear in black-bezel cases and the reverse, produced by combining two incomplete watches. Neither part is counterfeit; the watch as presented did not leave the factory that way. Check that dial, bezel inlay and subdial tone form one of the two documented combinations.

King Seiko dials of this era were commonly refinished during service in Japan, often to a high standard. Signs are softened printing, markers reseated slightly off-centre, and a finish that is too even for the age. A refinished dial is honest service work; the misrepresentation is selling one as original, and it materially affects value on this line.

Modern reproduction dials sold as issued

Reproduction GG-W-113 dials are made and sold openly for restoration. They are typically too crisp, with even and saturated lume plots that have not aged and printing that lacks the slight spread of period pad printing. A reproduction dial makes the watch a restoration rather than a counterfeit — the finding to record is the dial, not the watch.

24-hour hand length and lume

The 24h hand should reach the chapter ring with correctly shaped Chromalight lume; short or mis-lumed GMT hands are common on replicas.

Replacement and reproduction shrouds

The shroud is a sacrificial part — it exists to be damaged instead of the case — so replacements are both legitimate and common, and reproductions exist. Check the finish, the fit against the case and the fastener type. A replaced shroud is expected on a working professional watch; presenting one as wholly original is the misrepresentation.
