Rolex 1575
ProbableFitted to the Submariner Date 1680, GMT-Master 1675 and Datejust references of the period. Jewel count is given as 26 by most caliber databases and as 25 by at least one; the disagreement is unresolved and tracked as a research gap rather than settled here. The date is non-quickset — advancing it requires cycling the hands through midnight, which is correct behaviour and not a fault.

Non-quickset date is correct, not a defect
The 1575 has no quickset. A seller or examiner unfamiliar with the caliber may report the absence of quickset as a fault or as evidence of an incorrect movement. It is neither: quickset arrived with the 3035 in the late 1970s.
Service practice
Rolex service in later decades commonly fitted replacement date wheels; a service date wheel with a different font from the original is a documented service outcome, not evidence against the watch.
Open questions
Rolex 1575 jewel count
Does the Rolex calibre 1575 carry 25 or 26 jewels, and did the count change during production?
Best current answer
26 jewels, which is the figure given by the majority of caliber databases and recorded on the movement record.
Conflicting claims
At least one caliber database lists 25. It is not established whether this is an error, a different execution, or a change during the caliber's sixteen-year production. The parallel case of the Omega 861 — where the jewel count genuinely changed mid-production — means the discrepancy cannot be dismissed as a transcription error.
