Crystal
The domed crystal is a structural consequence, not a style choice
A balance suspended above the dial needs clearance, so the crystal is domed high. An LM-style watch with a flat or shallow crystal has no room for the construction it claims. Judge the case in profile.
Movement
The balance is suspended above the dial and must be oscillating there
The LM's balance hangs in the air above the dial on an arched bridge, visible in full, and it oscillates — reversing direction constantly at the movement's beat rate. A decorative wheel in that position, or a static element, is conclusive. This is one of the most exposed balances in watchmaking, which makes it one of the easiest to verify.
Movement
The battle-axe rotor is distinctive on the automatic executions
MB&F's winding weight is shaped as a double-headed axe and is among the more recognisable rotors in modern watchmaking. On the automatic Legacy Machines it is visible through the display back and is a straightforward comparison against published images.
