The patented outsize date uses a cross-and-ring double-disc mechanism; the two digits sit on one plane with no step. A single printed date wheel is incorrect.

Lange uses untreated German-silver three-quarter plates (which tone over time), screwed gold chatons and thermally-blued screws. Rhodium-plated or chaton-free plates are wrong.
