Movement
Moulding seams and absent jewels are factory-correct
Everything an examiner is trained to read as cheapness — polymer plates, moulding flash, a solitary jewel, no decoration — is the specification of this caliber. There is nothing to compare it against elsewhere in the catalog. The check is the opposite of the usual one: a Tissot presented as an IDEA 2001 containing a conventional metal movement is the wrong watch.
Service
A non-running Astrolon is normal and largely irreparable
The movement was designed for disposal, parts were never widely stocked, and the polymer components age. A dead example is the common condition and is not evidence against the watch. It also means a running example has usually been rebuilt from a donor, which is the only repair route available.
