Bezel
The octagon has a specific proportion and copies approximate it
The bezel is not a generic octagon: its facet widths and the ratio of the octagon to the case rectangle are drawn from a specific object. Counterfeits reproduce an eight-sided bezel with the facets wrong — usually too even, where the original's are not. Measure against a documented example rather than judging by eye; as on the Hermès designs, the proportion is the identity.
Bracelet
The interlaced chain and leather is a construction, not a decoration
Leather is threaded through a metal chain, and the quality of both the chain links and the leather threading is where counterfeits fail: loose or irregular interlacing, leather that is bonded rather than full-grain, and chain links that are cast rather than formed. It is also the most-handled part of the watch, so its wear should be consistent with the case's.
