Combination
The period brand and the modern brand are different companies
Zodiac passed out of independent Swiss ownership and has belonged to the Fossil Group since 1998. A 1950s Sea Wolf and a current Super Sea Wolf share a design and no corporate continuity, and they are separated by a large multiple in value. Establish the generation physically — crystal material, case finishing, movement, caseback markings — rather than from the design, which the reissues reproduce closely.
Dial
Redials and relumes are the characteristic period defect
Seventy-year-old dive-watch dials with dead lume are routinely refinished. The economics are the same as across this expansion's vintage brands: a tidy dial pays and a whole counterfeit does not. Crisp printing and bright even lume on a 1950s watch indicate restoration. A restoration finding, not a counterfeit one.
