Manufacturer & Third-Party Notice

Atlas & Crown is an independent authentication, provenance, and research platform. This notice states our relationship — or lack of one — to watch manufacturers and other third parties.

These documents have been prepared for the Atlas & Crown platform but have not yet been reviewed by qualified legal counsel. They are published for transparency, and several provisions — governing law, dispute resolution, liability caps, and statutory privacy rights — are expressly left unstated rather than asserted before that review. We would rather tell you that than imply a certainty we do not have.

1. Independence

Our conclusions are our own. They are reached on our own methodology and reference material, and no manufacturer directs, reviews, or approves them.

This independence is the point of the service. An assessment that a manufacturer could influence would be worth less, not more.

2. No manufacturer warranty or entitlement

Nothing we issue creates, confirms, extends, restores, or affects a manufacturer warranty, a service entitlement, or any right against a manufacturer. An Atlas & Crown certificate is not a manufacturer document and does not substitute for one.

Equally, a manufacturer’s view of a watch — however it is expressed — is that manufacturer’s determination, not ours.

3. Manufacturer names and trademarks

We refer to manufacturers by name — among them Rolex, Omega, Cartier, Seiko, Tudor, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and many others — because identifying a watch requires it.

All such brand names, trademarks, logos, model names, and reference numbers are the property of their respective owners. Our use of them is descriptive and referential, and implies no sponsorship, endorsement, affiliation, or authorization.

4. Information that did not originate with us

Parts of the Platform present material drawn from outside our own examinations, including from:

  • Manufacturers and their service organizations.
  • Dealers and retailers.
  • Auction houses and their catalogues.
  • Archives, museums, and historical publications.
  • Collectors and independent researchers.
  • Public records.
  • Documents supplied by users.

Where we present such material we identify its source, and we do not adopt it as our own finding merely by displaying it. We take reasonable care in selecting sources, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of information we did not produce.

5. Manufacturer-supplied records

The Platform supports authorized manufacturer and service organizations contributing records — factory configuration, service history, documentation — for watches they have access to. Those records are attributed to the contributing organization.

A manufacturer contributing records does not become our partner, principal, or endorser, and does not gain any influence over our authentication conclusions.

6. Knowledge Center and research content

Knowledge Center material — reference entries, standards, factory variations, authentication characteristics, counterfeit indicators, historical and technical articles — is published for information and research.

It is not an authentication of any particular watch, not a manufacturer specification, and not personalized advice on buying, selling, valuing, or investing. No watch becomes authentic by resembling something described there.

7. Third-party services and links

The Platform relies on third-party infrastructure providers to operate — hosting, storage, email delivery, and error monitoring among them. These are described in the Privacy Policy.

Where we link to an external site, we do not control it and are not responsible for its content or its practices.

8. If that ever changes

If Atlas & Crown enters a formal relationship with a manufacturer or another organization, we will disclose it plainly — here and at the point it is relevant — including what it covers and what it does not. Until such a disclosure appears, no such relationship exists.

If anything here is unclear, or you believe a record about you or your watch is wrong, get in touch. We would rather answer a question than have you rely on a guess.
