Post-2019: forty bezel notches

The 2019 redesign took the bezel from THIRTY notches to FORTY. It is countable from a clear photograph and is the fastest generational separator on the model — decisive in a way none of the other changes are, because it needs no comparison image and no judgement.

Pre-2019 and post-2019 executions

Chanel reworked roughly 70 per cent of the watch's components in 2019. Beyond the notch count: the bezel was thinned to widen the dial opening, the numerals were redrawn and became applied ceramic rather than printed, the hour and minute indexes and the Swiss Made line moved onto the slanted flange around the dial, the crown was redesigned, and the solid steel caseback became a sapphire display back. Both generations are factory-correct and they are different watches; assessing one against the other's expected features produces false findings.
